Green Tea
The association between green tea and health benefits has been known since as early as the 9th century. Green tea has numerous health benefits that render it extremely beneficial for the human body. It reduces the potential for cardiovascular disease, cancer and weight problems.
Green tea and weight loss now have scientific proof for the correlation many have made over the years. Green tea often praised for its cancer fighting properties, has joined the ranks of fat fighters. A recent study in the "International Journal of Obesity" shows that the tea actually increases the calories burned so weight loss occurs.
When people digest food their body creates heat from the metabolization of food. This generation of heat called thermogenesis. When healthy men consumed green tea the thermogenesis increased along with the energy they expended and the fat that they burned.
The study suggested that green tea and weight loss coincide and it may be worth considering supplements containing green tea to aid in the process of weight reduction. However, while proper weight management does wonders for your health, green tea's more important benefits may come from reducing the potential for cardiovascular disease and serious health problems.
Green tea like the rest of the varieties of tea has its origins in the leaves of the plant that is referred to scientifically as "Camellia Sinensis". Make sure that that the tea you purchase contains Camellia Sinensis, many teas are just blends that won't give you the health benefits.
